DUBAI, UAE: Arab Publisher House announced that Refaat Jaafar has been appointed Editor in Chief of Forbes Middle East Arabic version, its flagship publication. The new magazine, published in partnership with Forbes Media, is Forbes' latest international edition. Forbes Middle East will debut in October and be based in Dubai.

An established business journalist for over 14 years, Refaat Jaafar previously worked as Managing Editor for Alrroya Aleqtissadiya and was a key member in launching the first edition of the daily business publication in March 2009. Jaafar was also instrumental in establishing Forbes Arabia as a leading business publication within the region, where he worked as Managing Editor for two years. He has also worked at CNBC Arabia, and he spent six years with Al Khaleej as Deputy Business Editor.

Khuloud Al Omian, Vice President of Arab Publisher House and Editor in Chief of Forbes Middle East, said, "Refaat Jaafar has extensive experience as a business journalist within the region, and his understanding of the Forbes brand makes him the ideal candidate for this position. I am delighted to welcome him on board."

Refaat Jaafar said, "I know the journalistic style of Forbes very well and have worked as part of the Forbes family for two years. To me, it is unique within the region. It offers me the opportunity to practice real journalism and tackle issues that are close to my heart."

Forbes Middle East will debut in Arabic in October 2010, to be followed in a few months by an accompanying website. An English-language edition, also accompanied by a website, will appear in 2011.

Arab Publisher House is a newly formed joint venture of influential Arab investors; it plans to bring to the region a number of other Forbes publications, as well as other magazines.
