Doha - Qatar, 19th September 2006: In efforts to embrace the Holy month of Ramadan, Al Jazeera Children's Channel, the first Arabic edutainment channel, offers a range of special edutainment content reflective of the auspicious month.
Aimed at enhancing the youngsters' knowledge in Arab traditions and heritage, Al Jazeera Children's Channel will showcase a significant daily series "Ramadan Kareem" meant to help children learn about Ramadan customs and cultures celebrated by Arab families in the region and around the Islamic world.
Day to day, "Kal al Rawi" , performed by "Nimr Salamoun" harks the main spirit of Ramadan tradition in story telling, bringing with it a number of dedicated children of different age groups and a series of legendary Arabic stories. The plot also brings with it a magnificent oriental stage portraying Arab dazzling culture and decoration.
Staying true to Arab roots and musical culture, JCC features an exclusive musical slot of special "songs and melodies" chanted by a young promising talent "Bilal". A talent realized by the Channel in recognition of promising gifts. JCC has pledged to help such young talents achieve utmost vocational accomplishments in both talents and personal endeavors.
Falling under the realm of the Holy month of Ramadan, the Channel presents special Quran readings recited by a group of young Arab children representing different Arabic nationalities.
Joining the Ramadan special grid is a new in-house produced program "Gala Gala" offering viewers a huge window on edutainment program content dealing with interesting topics in an experimental atmosphere; harnessing children's curiosity and mental capacity.
"Gala Gala" revolves around two main characters for children, Ajeeba, the pretending magician, and the jolly child, Fayez.
Gracing the Holy month of Ramadan comes the monthly children broadcast, "Jalsa" with a specific episode dedicated to help children decipher the religious meaning and occurrence of "Laylat Al Kader" in the presence of a young group of Quran readers reciting divine passages from the Holy Quran.

Al Jazeera Children's Channel (JCC), a Pan Arabic edutainment channel, was launched in September 2005. Through its unique concept and a range of own produced educational programmes, JCC opens up avenues for Arab Children to learn about different environments and cultures, as well as encourage them to learn and seek knowledge.
