Doha, Qatar - February 5, 2012: Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) - the largest Islamic bank in Qatar and one of the top-five Sharia'-compliant banks in the world - has announced the opening of a new branch at the City Centre mall in Doha's West Bay area.

The new branch is part of QIB's ongoing strategy to develop and expand its branch banking network as planned for the year 2012 and beyond. This new facility will provide a complete range of innovative, secure and Shari'a-compliant banking services both for individuals, and corporate customers.

QIB's Acting Assistant General Manager of Personal Banking, Hassan Sultan Al Jafali, commented, "The bank is implementing a geographical expansion strategy in order to reach its clients in pivotal areas in Qatar, and to provide excellent banking and financing services that are Shari'a-compliant.

"Part of QIB's five-year strategy from 2008 to 2012 is to expand its network to 35 branches. The new City Centre outlet takes the bank's total to 31, so as a consequence it is hoped that four further branches will open during the course of 2012. All QIB branches are designed according to a modern and developed vision, to provide safe and fast banking services that meet - and exceed - our customers' expectations.

"The inauguration of the City Centre branch accompanies the extensive development that the West Bay area is witnessing. This is an area which has become something of a 'centre of gravity' in Doha, since it includes many governmental institutions, big companies, embassies, educational foundations and some of Qatar's finest hotels. The significant population of nearby neighbourhoods has also had a positive effect on West Bay's 'draw' also," Al Jafali said.

It is worth noting that QIB executes a sustainable development policy for its entire branch network, in order to keep up with the latest banking industry requirements, backed up with a network of 130 multi-function ATM machines that provide numerous automated services 24-hours-a-day. This is in addition to substitute channels services and the customer services call centre, also available around-the-clock.

The occasion of the inauguration was attended by a number of managers, bank officials, customers and inquisitive City Centre visitors!

Mr Al Jafali added, "The City Centre branch opening will reinforce QIB's presence in the West Bay area and allow us to provide our full suite of banking and financial services to our customers including banking accounts, receipt of deposits, different types of financing, investment marketing, fund transfers, bank (ATM, debit and credit) cards and an entire range of Shari'a-compliant financial products."

QIB City Center Branch opening was attended by Mr Ahmad Meshri, QIB Acting CEO, QIB Groups Managers, Executives from QIB various departments, and a number of customers and visitors of City Center Complex.
