Canadian scholar to speak on various topics on October 13 and 14

Sharjah: Prominent Canadian scholar Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick will deliver a series of religious lectures at Qanat Al Qasba (QAQ) on October 13 and 14 as part of the ongoing Soul Food Islamic Lectures program. The Soul Food program which has featured a number of famous scholars speaking on different topics this Ramadan is part of the Ramadaniat Al Qasba celebrations organised by QAQ this year.

Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick who is the first American graduate of the Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia, has been specially invited for the Soul Food series from South Africa. His first lecture titled "Discover Islam" will be held on October 13 and the second one on the following day on "Reviving Islamic Faith in Ramadan". Both lectures will begin 9:30pm at the Qanat Al Qasba Theater.

A scholar, historian and teacher, Dr. Hakim Quick has also completed his MA (Philosophy) in African History; and Ph.D. (Philosophy) in West African Islamic History from the University of Toronto, Canada.

The author of several scholarly articles, and having lectured and researched in over 47 countries, Dr. Hakim Quick is considered a prominent figure among the Islamic scholars of today thanks to his insightful and widely researched works.

An enigmatic speaker, he has also delivered presentations on topics such as "Islamic Revival in the 21st Century", "Dilemma of Muslim Youth" and "Islam and the World" in various parts of the world.

The program will wind up on October 20 with an Arabic lecture "School of Ramadan" by Sheikh Omar Abdul Kafi.

Besides the Soul Food program Ramadaniat Al Qasba will also feature a charity book sale at the Book Boulevard; Zaman Awal, a walk through the past; and a Fun Zone for children. All activities will commence at 8.30pm and will go on till midnight during weekdays and from 8.30pm to 2m on weekends.

Sharjah: A series of religious lecture programs titled "Soul Food" Religious Lectures, will be featured once again this Ramadan at Qanat Al Qasba (QAQ) following its tremendous success last year. As part of the ongoing Ramadan celebrations, Ramadaniat Al Qasba at QAQ, the Soul Food program will feature some of the most prominent local and international Muslim scholars who will educate visitors on different topics about Islam. Lectures will be held in both English and Arabic languages at Masrah Al Qasba (Al Qasba Theater) starting September 29.
