Amman - PROGAS and Tkiyet Um Ali, the first national initiative of its kind to fight hunger in Jordan, signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday September 11th, 2007, according to which PROGAS will install a bulk LPG system, deliver gas and provide maintenance during the Holy month of Ramadan that is expected to feed approximately 300 beneficiaries a day in addition to sponsoring iftar meals for 2 weeks.  

This partnership comes as part of PROGAS' social responsibility, as a leading private sector company, to give back to the local community, by providing aid for the poor and fighting hunger throughout Kingdom especially during Ramadan.

PROGAS, the first private company in Jordan to market and provide bulk LPG Technology will sponsor a 500 gallon tank and its accessories that will be transported from the PROGAS logistics center to Tkiyet Um Ali. PROGAS will also deliver 300 kg of free gas during Ramadan. Tkiyet Um Ali will also benefit from PROGAS' 24 hours a day, 7 days a week call center that is available for technical support and emergencies.

Mr. Ihab Theiab, CEO of Tkiyet Um Ali said: "Tkiyet Um Ali continuously seeks partnerships from the Jordanian private sector as they play a big role in helping us achieve our vision of providing food security to the poor and underprivileged in Jordan. I can confidently say that we have found a successful partner in PROGAS. They have so generously supported us with the Ramadan Campaign that will feed about 50,000 beneficiaries in 12 governorates across the Kingdom."

PROGAS General Manager Eng. Saba Salti said: "Supporting the National Ramadan Campaign and being part of Tikyet Um Ali to fight hunger in Jordan is a decision we made in a heart beat as a first step to our long-term partnership with Tkiyet Um Ali." He added: "We are glad that we will be able to employ our core product and services to contribute to enhancing the standards of living for Jordanians; PROGAS will be providing an LPG system and delivering gas regularly that is sufficient enough for cooking daily meals during Ramadan."

Tkiyet Um Ali is a non-governmental organization that was initiated and is chaired by HRH Princess Haya Bint Al-Hussein. Tkiyet Um Ali fights hunger in Jordan through providing daily meals for the poor and hungry, delivering food supplies on a monthly basis to poor families across the Kingdom as well as training and rehabilitating the underprivileged in an attempt to empower them and provide incomes to support their families.
