HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company, received at his office, Malian Ambassador to Saudi and the GCC countries, His Excellency Ambassador Nakounte Diakite. During the meeting, Prince Alwaleed and Ambassador Diakite discussed Saudi-Malian bi-lateral relations and, a number of social and economic issues. Ambassador Diakite and Prince Alwaleed also discussed the exploration of future investment opportunities in Mali.
The Prince welcomed the idea of investment in Mali and expressed his readiness to make further humanitarian contributions to help the people of Mali in any way he can. Also during the meeting the Malian Ambassador presented a letter from President Amadou Toumani Tour to Prince Alwaleed, thanking His Highness for his generous contributions to Mali, especially to the Children's Foundation.
Prince Alwaleed met with President Tour during a visit to Mali in June of this year, it was the Prince's third visit to the country. The President commended the Prince on his efforts and his role in helping economic development in Africa. The Prince also met the first lady Mrs Tour Lobbo Traore and inaugurated
the new headquarters of the "Fondation pour l'Enfance", during a plaque unveiling ceremony for the cornerstone laying of the construction which was financed by HRH's $800,000 donation in June 2005. A previous $250,000 donation was also given to the foundation.
Furthermore, during the visit Prince Alwaleed was named an "Honorary Citizen of the City of Bamako" and was presented with the Honorary Key to the City in an official ceremony attended by the dignitaries and high ranking officials as well as the good people of Mali.
During a previous meeting between the Prince and the Malian Ambassador, he presented His Highness with a certificate for the highest honorary medal bestowed upon the Prince by the Malian President Amadou Toumani Tour during his official visit to Mali.
