Beirut - Nasco Karaoglan France, the leading Reinsurance Brokerage Firm in the MENA Region, hosted the first seminar in the region on 'Political Violence Insurance and Reinsurance' on July 11, 2011. The seminar which took place in Beirut, gathered internationally-renowned reputable figures, the leading underwriter in the region, Chaucer syndicate, Amlin Syndicate, experts in the insurance and reinsurance fields, heads of insurance firms and consultants from the MENA region, as well as members of the press; who took part in several discussions, which focused on political violence.
In light of the recent developments across the MENA region since early 2011, the main aim of the seminar was to cover an array of topics that fall under the Political Violence theme; providing key solutions through discussions and shared experiences. Topics covered under political violence included: acts of terrorism and sabotage; strikes, riots and civil commotion; insurrection, revolution and rebellion and war and civil war to name a few.
On the speaking panel were several experts, specialized in political violence reinsurance speaking in Lebanon for the first time which included: Mr. Andrew Bauckham ACII at Chaucer Syndicate at Lloyd's; Mr. Paul Beattie at Amlin Syndicate at Lloyd's and Mr. Georges Al Bitar, Director and Head of the Political Violence Division at Nasco Karaoglan France.
