• talabat is set to redefine affordability, variety and speed by adding 20,000 new partners and 50,000 riders to its platform by the end of 2020
  • Introduction of talabat mart by end of 2020 will allow Egyptians to have their groceries delivered within 30 minutes or less, 24/7

Cairo, Egypt: talabat, the region’s leading food and grocery delivery platform, is now live in Egypt. Continuing its rapid expansion, talabat today announced that, by the end of 2020, the organisation plans to onboard 20,000 additional partners to bring unparalleled affordability, variety and speed to its customers.

In addition to this, talabat will be introducing its quick-commerce (q-commerce) delivery-only grocery store, talabat mart, by the end of 2020 enabling Egyptians to have groceries - and more - delivered around the clock, within 30 minutes or less.

These new details follow last month’s announcement that talabat now has the ability to serve over 55 million Egyptians, nationwide, as well as the ambitious expansion plans of creating 50,000 new jobs for riders by year-end.

Sofiène Marzouki, Managing Director of talabat Egypt, believes that today is a momentous date for the delivery industry in Egypt.

‘Today, we start redefining the way Egyptians experience ordering food, groceries - and more - online. It is not just a name change, or a colour change from yellow to orange. With this change, we bring a new mindset. We’re excited to provide Egyptians with a truly world-class experience, based on affordability, variety and speed.’

‘Our targets are ambitious - 20,000 new restaurants on the talabat platform, as well opening up 50,000 new employment opportunities for Egyptians to become riders at talabat, by the end of 2020. Our commitment is that we will continue to drive the growth of the delivery sector, opening up new jobs and new opportunities for the Egyptian people.’

Marzouki states that talabat will redefine more than the food delivery space alone, with the introduction of talabat mart, talabat’s q-commerce delivery-only grocery business.

‘Our ambition is to revolutionise the way people order food and groceries online. We are introducing talabat mart, our next-generation q-commerce grocery delivery business - where customers will be able to get their groceries within 30 minutes or less, 24/7, by the end of 2020.

‘Q-commerce is our next play for the future of the delivery industry. Being able to deliver goods bought online - not just food or groceries, but clothes, electronics - basically anything that can be delivered by our riders within 1 hour.’

Consumers can download talabat from either the iOS store or Google Play.
