Oman Football continued its growth with the announcement today of a prestigious tie up with one of the giants of world football.
The Oman Football Association today announced a strategic partnership with the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). The two associations have been in discussion for some time, and have established common ground to help both associations.
Italy played against the Oman Olympic team twice in the past few months, and with this relationship - further collaborations will follow.
General Secretary of OFA, Sheikh Hazzaa al Saadi commented on the prestigious tie up "We are great friends with the Italians and they were a key strategic partner for us. They are the closest European super power to Oman, Oman Air fly direct to one of the best football cities in the world - Milan, and their culture is one that we can really work with. It is a great honor to be able to make this announcement and I have no doubt that the relationship will enable OFA to continue to improve."
The partnership will see more opportunities for friendly games, with the option of the full Italian National side one day playing in Oman. In addition, Oman will be opened up as a training destination for some of the most high profile teams in world football, whilst already some Omani staff have visited the FIGC training centre in Coverciano.
Dr. Antonello Valentini, Chief Executive Officer of FIGC noted "We are very impressed with the vision and plans that OFA has in place. We are very excited to be forming this partnership and we will work hard to ensure that the relationship is a success for all parties."
The announcement follows hot on the heels after the recent MoU that was signed between the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and the Italian Industries Federation (IIF) - with Oman Football working hard to deliver value for the country.
