Free i-Handbook Offers Updated Information for Cementing, Stimulation and Coiled Tubing

AMSTERDAM - Schlumberger Oilfield Services announced today at the SPE/IADC Annual Conference and Exhibition that its updated Field Data Handbook for cementing, stimulation and coiled tubing is available as a desktop application. The new online version, called the i-Handbook electronic oilfield data handbook, is available for download at no cost at www.slb.com/oilfield/ihandbook.

Schlumberger first published the Field Data Handbook more than 35 years ago. Since then it has become an industry standard for petroleum engineers--providing important data engineers need to drill and complete a well.

The i-Handbook features six sections:
- general information - contains conversion factors, useful formulae, tank and drum capacity tables and calculator, mud pump displacement - animator and calculator, data on API flanges, rings and gaskets;
- coiled tubing and pipe data - includes mechanical properties for API standard and non-API tubulars like tubing, casing, drill pipe and coiled tubing, drill bit clearances in casings;
- volume - features dimensions and capacities for open hole, tubing, drill pipe and casing, annular volume for various combinations of open hole and tubulars, drill pipe tool joint displacement;
- fracturing - includes formulae and treatment-related calculators, carbon dioxide and nitrogen data;
- cementing - lists physical properties of cement slurries along with several useful calculators; and
- acid, oil and brine - contains various acid and brine tables with calculators.

Other features include calculators to help with multiple well operations such as drilling and workover, cementing, fracturing and general unit conversions; a library of predefined wellbore diagrams; and copy and paste options for exporting handbook data to software applications.

"Using the i-Handbook engineers are able to do in-field quality checks, basic materials formulations and quick cementing computations to expedite drilling the well," said Roger Keese, business development manager for cementing, Well Services, Schlumberger Oilfield Services. "In addition, this advanced resource includes calculators for fast and consistent computations and an exhaustive tubulars database with dimensions and mechanical properties data."
