26th May 2011, Doha: In its single largest national development initiative related to its Venture Projects to date, RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) announced the launching of an important and strategic overseas assignment for young Qatari Nationals at a ceremony held in Doha recently.
With the full support of the extended RasGas organisation and the Barzan shareholders, this latest development initiative provides some 32 young Qatari professionals, including two females, the opportunity to contribute to the successful execution of the Barzan Gas Onshore and Offshore Project - 24 of which will be living and working in Yokohama, Japan.
Commenting on the importance of the development initiative RasGas Managing Director, Mr Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, said: "At RasGas, we are focused on excellence across all aspects of our business and firmly believe that our employees are our most important asset. The young nationals embarking on this important overseas assignment represent the upcoming generation of professionals and future leaders. "
"The programme is a reflection of the nationals' commitment to learn and grow in an international and multicultural work environment and it is also a clear demonstration of the commitment and professionalism of the mentors from RasGas, the Shareholders and JGC Corporation." he added.
The entire programme is being coordinated with the Barzan Gas Project Onshore Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contractor - JGC Corporation. JGC Corporation is hosting the formal specialised training programmes provided to some of the young Qatari's as part of this initiative.
Mr Nafez Bseiso, RasGas Venture Group Manager, further underlined the significance of the programme and the Barzan Gas Project, he said: "Being one of the leaders in the energy industry, RasGas has been entrusted with the development of the Barzan Gas Project, one of the largest gas infrastructure projects in the region, which is expected to produce approximately 2 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day by the year 2015."
"Giving these young Qatari nationals the opportunity to be part of this development programme is yet a further step forward to show the company's commitment to the development of our national employees, enabling them to enhance their skills and experience at all fronts." Mr Bseiso added.
During the ceremony RasGas senior management also took the opportunity to reinforce RasGas' enduring commitment to the safety and wellbeing of its people whether in Qatar or abroad.
This initiative reflects RasGas' commitment to developing the skills and capabilities of Qatari nationals in-line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, and through the support of His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry.
