Doha - H.E. Sheikh Nawaf Bin Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani, Chairman of Nasser Bin Khaled and Sons Group and Chairman of Al Waab City. W.L.L. announced the inauguration of the first phase of Al Waab City, the first state-of-the-art, mixed use real estate project in Qatar.
H.E. Sheikh Nawaf said he is proud and excited that the first phase of the project has now commenced. He considers the project to be an embodiment of the comprehensive economic development that Qatar has recently witnessed under the wise leadership of H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar.
Sheikh Nawaf added that the first phase, which will incorporate the existing, re-clad and refurbished structures as well as five new, premium quality showrooms will be completed in July 2008. This phase will front onto the northbound carriageway of Salwa Road between the NBK Mercedes Showroom on the corner of Al Bostan Street and Street No. 150 extending to approximately 1km in length. It will provide approximately 25,000m2 of retail outlets and a further 28,000m2 of commercial and office accommodation serviced by 645 car parking spaces.
H.E. Sheikha Hanadi Bint Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani, Chief Executive of Al Waab City W.L.L. expressed her confidence that this project will lead to the development and beautification of Salwa Road. She confirmed her appreciation of the commitment of all parties participating in the scheme. "We seek to conclude more agreements and enter into more collaborations with new partners, provided that they abide by international standards and specifications to ensure the successful execution of this project. This city is designed to combine both modern and traditional styles as well as Islamic and Arab architectural designs which will be surrounded by green areas. There will also be special places for pedestrians and recreational facilities," said Sheikha Hanadi.
"The architectural designs of the first phase of this project were executed by the Engineering Consultancy Group under the management of Cansult Maunsell-AECOM. The construction works have been assigned to Imperial Trading and Contracting Co. in its capacity as the main contractor. The first phase of the project will be financed by Doha Bank and the construction of the first two showrooms has already commenced. The first showroom is expected to be completed and occupied in August 2007," she added.
Sheikh AbdulRahman Bin Muhammad Bin Jabor Al Thani, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Doha Bank hailed the strong mutual relationship between Doha Bank and Nasser Bin Khaled and Sons Group and its affiliated companies. He said "The participation of Doha Bank in financing the first phase of this project is evidence of the credibility of our strong relationship and proof of the vital role played by Doha Bank in the current economic development in Qatar under the wise leadership of H.H The Emir."
