The 216-room hotel is the first international five-star property to open in Deira in more than a decade
Book ten rooms and meet for free
The Mövenpick Hotel Deira is offering a day delegate rate of Dhs 175++ per person, including lunch and refreshments over two breakout sessions, and free wireless internet access. Plus, for every ten room nights booked for the meeting, a ten-person delegate package is included at no extra cost.
Michael Nugent, the hotel's general manager noted that while the heritage legacy of Deira has been reflected in the hotel's architecture, the meeting facilities are more contemporary than vintage.
"We have seven meeting rooms and they have been treated to up-to-the-minute interior design and technology. Indeed, the technical spec is excellent with the latest push button screens and more. Plus, we have included free WiFi in all MICE packages," he said.
The meeting facilities are located within a dedicated section of the property, complete with an integrated reception and seating area, for meetings, private luncheons or a celebration for up to 90.
"The MICE facilities have received really positive feedback. Event planners have said that they really like the fact that the meeting rooms have a dedicated pre-function area, as well as access to a large terrace.
"Indeed, we have made some interesting set-up combinations, particularly for the larger of the rooms which can cater for just under 100 people in one large area, or be divided into three," Nugent said.
He also advised that hotel is offering a ten-person delegate package 'on the house' if ten room nights are booked during the same meeting session."We are offering a day delegate rate of Dhs 175++ per person, including lunch and refreshments over two breakout sessions. Plus, for every ten room nights booked, the ten-person delegate package is included at no extra cost, with free WiFi thrown in to boot," he said.
The Mövenpick Hotel Deira is the first international five-star hotel in the area for more than a decade.
In the heart of commercial Dubai, Nugent suggested that the hotel stands in testament to Deira's ongoing hustle and bustle, as the locale is Dubai's early commercial centre.
"Deira is now a mature residential and business hub and we have already seen that the hotel is well-received by the neighbourhood. The hotel location is also appealing to inquisitive visitors who are looking to feel the heart of 'old Dubai'.
"It is also convenient for visiting businesspeople looking for ease of access to the organisations that are Dubai's backbone to this day, as many are located here in Deira," said Nugent.
He noted that in addition to commerce and landmarks, Deira also plays host to many of the emirate's ministries and government service departments. These include the Dubai Economic Department, the Chamber of Commerce and Dubai Municipality - all key stop-off points to those who have earmarked Dubai as part of their business playing field. They are just a short car journey away from the hotel and some can be reached by foot, as can a soon-to-be-opened metro link serving the emirate's business, shopping and leisure districts.
The Mövenpick Hotel Deira is less than 15 minutes by road from Dubai International Airport, with convenient road links to all major airports, Bur Dubai, the Dubai World Trade Centre, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.
The hotel has two restaurants, a bar, numerous 'al fresco' terraces, an outdoor swimming pool and a fully equipped fitness centre. In-house guests also have access to the hotel's private beach club on The Palm Jumeriah.

As the global hospitality industry continues to ponder the pace of business, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, in partnership with real estate developer, Seven Tides, prepares for the opening of more than 1,200 rooms over four properties in Dubai, UAE.
This includes the 216-room Mövenpick Hotel Deira which opened in January 2011 to offer an efficient welcome to visiting business executives, inquisitive shoppers, small meeting groups and lunch & dinner time diners in Dubai's traditional locale of Deira on the north-side of the Creek.
Also within the pack of four is the 396-room Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel, a property of iconic stature both inside and out, which is cleverly inspired by the journeys of the 14th century Arabian explorer, Ibn Battuta himself. The hotel is located in 'New Dubai' and opened its doors to business travellers, holidaymakers and destination tourists in October 2010.
Meanwhile, the Asian-inspired Royal Amwaj Resort & Spa on Palm Jumeirah will be open later in 2011. At first glance, the 293-room retreat-like resort seems to be playing a credible tune as it blows its own trumpet by announcing some 'industry firsts', including an upscale all-inclusive package available through preferred travel partners.
2011 will also see the pack complete with opening of the contemporary Oceana Hotel & Spa. Seven Tides' second property located on Dubai's Palm Jumeirah will open 324 rooms on the heels of the Oceana Beach Club and restaurant-bar venue, West 14th, the New-York Grill and Bar. Both the club and the restaurant opened for business during the summer of 2010 and deliver great family entertainment.
