· H.E. Jamal bin Huwaireb: Social partnerships are a cornerstone for achieving our vision of spreading knowledge and culture in society

Dubai – The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) – a member of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives – signed an MoU with the Dubai Economic Council (DEC) during a ceremony at the Foundation’s headquarters in Dubai World Trade Centre.

The agreement seeks to increase cooperation between the two organisations who would pledge their extensive experience, as well as financial, technical, and human resources, to develop knowledge-management systems and networks.

The agreement states that the two parties are to exchange knowledge-related material – such as library content and electronic sources of information – and benefit from each other’s experience to support knowledge-centric initiatives launched by the Dubai – or federal – Government. Furthermore, the MoU stipulates that the MBRF and the DEC are to support each other’s programmes and initiatives to enrich Emirati and Arab culture through publishing educational content and organising cultural and knowledge-focused events.

His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, Managing Director of MBRF, said: “Social partnerships are a cornerstone for achieving our vision of spreading knowledge and culture in society. We, at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, realise how important it is to consolidate all efforts to build a knowledgeable society, and to enable future generations to pursue knowledge and scientific research. This agreement adds to the Foundation’s successful track record and allows us to reach broader segments of society.”

“The importance of this agreement stems from its pivotal role in developing the knowledge, culture, and skillsets of individuals and entrepreneurs,” H.E. bin Huwaireb added. “It will also encourage them to unleash their creative energies and hone their skills, spreading a culture of entrepreneurship among the youth. The MoU relies on solid scientific standards rooted in research and development, as well as large-scale projects that help build a knowledge economy in the UAE.”

Meanwhile, H.E. Hani Al Hamli, Secretary General of the Dubai Economic Council, lauded MBRF for the crucial role it plays in spreading knowledge and catalysing the cultural movement in Dubai and the UAE as a whole. Establishing an adequate business environment and high quality of living is key to sustainable development, H.E. Al Hamli reminded; such an environment is built on a set of corporate frameworks, most important of which is the nationalisation and democratisation of knowledge.

The DEC Secretary General went on to explain that the best way to achieve human development was to create communication channels between individuals and corporations, stressing that the Dubai Economic Council is keen on forging strategic partnerships with knowledge and research centres, as well as academic institutions and other national and international organisations. These partnerships are a “pre-requisite” to building a knowledge economy, H.E. Al Hamli added, asserting that the MoU with MBRF brings added value to the Council’s partners, and complements its objectives to support the Dubai and UAE economy.

The agreement guarantees the two parties an opportunity to benefit from each other’s experience to develop both of their potentials in the fields of knowledge, culture, science, and education, as well as any other sectors where they can collaborate either directly or through their subsidiaries.
