Saudi Industrial Property Authority (MODON) entered into an agreement to establish Energy Service City in Dammam 2nd. Industrial City. The agreement was signed by Director General MODON, Dr. Tawfig F. Alrabiah with Oil Fields Processing Company represented by H.E. Mr. Rashid Abdullah Al-Hajri.
The project involves building an integrated industrial city specializing in energy services of international standards on an area of one and a half million square meters in Dammam 2nd. Industrial City to support the industry sector specialized in energy services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly the oil and gas sector. The Oil Fields Processing Company will plan, develop, construct and manage the industrial city and use the concept of establishing an integrated base of equipment and logistical support to clients engaged in similar business and will follow the best international standards of safety, environment and quality. The city will include an industrial as well as residential, educational, commercial and public services areas.
The project is to be built in two phases: Phase I includes approximately 120 factories with an investment value estimated of SR 400 million as cost for the establishment of the first phase. The investments in these factories are estimated to reach more than 5 billion riyals. The types of industries targeted in the Energy City are: Covers for drilling, links for pipes, mechanical products, chemical products, etc.
The Oil Fields Processing Company is owned by the following:
1. Oil fields processing Center Co. Ltd. It is a limited liability company owned by the Government of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and its Board of Directors is chaired by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Makhtoum. The Oil fields processing Center was founded in 1962 to provide various types of logistical services and to manage facilities for a large scale of customers. The company has a lot of investments in oil and gas sector.
2. Al Khobar Projects Development Company, a Saudi Joint-stock company with its principal place of business in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The company's core business is concentrated in the development and investment of the industrial projects of added value that serve the energy sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
On this occasion, Director General MODON, Dr. Tawfig F. Alrabiah, announced that there was tremendous interest for Dammam 2nd. Industrial City and all industrial lands have been allocated there. There are approximately 350 factories under construction at investments amounting to around 20 billion riyals. This reflects their confidence in the distinctive services provided by MODON. Meantime, MODON has already signed an expansion agreement to expand Dammam 2nd. Industrial City in early 2008 at a cost of SR 200 million and the expansion project is proceeding according to its schedule. Currently, the Energy City contract is considered as additional expansion to the industrial lands in Dammam. The Energy City contract is considered to be one of the distinctive contracts that represents the strategic partnership between both the public and private sectors.
Dr. Alrabiah added that MODON is keen to develop the industrial cities in collaboration with reputed contractors and designers in order to provide the best results those are in line with the highest global standards.
The career opportunities that will be available in the Energy City are as follows:
Jobs for drilling operators, offshore/onshore platform jobs, skilled labors in oil & gas, administrative jobs, accountants, HR jobs, IT jobs, Mechanical/ Chemical/ Electrical/ Petroleum, etc..
The city will attract graduates from King Fahd Petroleum & Minerals University, Jubail Industrial College, institutes and technical colleges and other universities and specialized institutes.
Dr. Alrabiah added that MODON is currently overseeing 14 existing industrial cities in various regions of the Kingdom (Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Makkah, Qassim, Al-Ahsa, Madinah, Assir, Al Jouf, Tabuk, Hail and Najran). The investments in these cities exceed 200 billion riyals, and more than 300 thousand workers are employed there. Furthermore, there are non-developed areas allocated to establish new industrial cities in different regions of the Kingdom in Sudair, Al-Ahsa, Duba, Zulfi, Taif and Gurayaat. Another four cities, currently under establishment are Al-Kharj Industrial City, Jeddah 2nd. Industrial City, Ar'ar Industrial City and Jazan Industrial City. The development contracts of these cities were signed at the end of 2008.
At the end of his speech, Dr. Alrabiah reemphasized that MODON welcomes investors to invest in these cities, whether their investments may be in industrial, service, commercial or residential sectors.
