Doha, 7th May 2011: Under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani the Heir Apparent and president of Supreme Council of Health, H.E. Abdulla bin Khalid Al Qahtani, Minister of Public Health and Secretary General of the Supreme Health Council, Inaugurated on Thursday 5th May the Paediatric Emergency and Kidney Dialysis Centre at Al Khor.
The two medical facilities are donated by Ms. Aisha Al Missned and Mr. Naser bin Abdulla Al Missned.
The formal opening and handing over ceremony was attended by HMC Managing Director, Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari, Executive Director of Al Khor Hospital, Mr. Mohamad Al Jusaiman, Executive Director of Marketing and Public Relations at HMC, Mr. Mohamad Al Noimi among many other dignitaries from Al Khor district, Ministry of Public Health and HMC.
The ribbon was cut by H.E Abdulla bin Khalid Al Qahtani in the presence of distinguished guests and hospital staff. He was given a guided tour of the two medical facilities by senior staff at Al Khor hospital.
The Paediatric Emergency Centre at Al Khor hospital is fully functional since November, 2010. With an 11 bed capacity, the unit is geared and works towards quality client care, assessment, resuscitation, stabilization, initial management and plan of further management to all sick children ages birth -14 years.
It provides care and access to services to people of Al Khor and rest of Northern part of country, for medical emergency and ambulatory patients for major diagnosis and treatment. The center is prepared to receive all pediatric emergencies which will be assessed and if necessary admitted at Al Khor Hospital or referred to other medical centers for further treatment.
The Kidney Dialysis Centre at Al Khor hospital started receiving patients since March 2009. It is equipped with 22 Hemodialysis and 6 peritoneal dialysis stations. It caters to 12-15 patients every day with end stage kidney diseases offering services for both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. The Kidney Dialysis Centre also acts as nodal place for all patients with related complications. Furthermore it offers pre and post renal transplant care, complete Hospital inpatient consulting services including intensive care 24 hours/7 days a week. The center also provides outpatient care for patients with chronic kidney diseases who are not yet on dialysis.
