Motor racing fans in the Kingdom of Bahrain had their first chance to see the MINI Challenge cars, which will compete in the Euro Motors supported 2004 MINI Challenge series, during the recent official opening ceremony for the Bahrain International Circuit.

Ten teams that will contest the MINI Challenge championship took part in the opening ceremony parade at the circuit, which will host the first F1 Grand Prix held in the Middle East, on April 4.

The 10 Bahrain-based teams that will compete in the MINI Challenge are: GOYS, Intercol, BMF, Unstoppabulls, AlAyam AlRiadi, AFI, Al Wardi Group, NoNoo Exchange, Castrol and DHL.

The MINI Challenge, the Middle East’s first one make series of motor races, will be contested at various race tracks in Bahrain, also at the new Bahrain International Circuit.

The races, to be held in conjunction with the Bahrain Motor Federation, will feature MINI Challenge cars with identical specifications and engine capacity. Eventually, it is expected that more than 20 cars and drivers will compete against each other, each sponsored by local companies.
