SPIN Hot Dip Versus Traditional Centrifuge Dryer

Dubai-UAE: 25 March 2013 - SPIN Hot Dip Galvanizing, a process of efficiently coating metal with zinc, that has been incredibly successful in the West for corrosion resistance, was recently launched in Dubai, UAE by Marami Metal Plating.

Previously, galvanizers, after coating threaded components - such as fasteners, jack bolts and more - would transfer these components from the hot kettle (ca. 500 degrees Celsius) to a centrifuge dryer, which causes significant cooling-off, resulting in the clogging of threads which requires manual re-threading that wastes time and money.

Furthermore, if over-grinding takes place during the manual re-threading process, the performance and life of that particular component would decrease significantly.

With the new SPIN process however, as soon as the aforementioned components are removed from the kettle, they are spun in molten state at a very high velocity over the kettle itself, resulting in: very good corrosion protection; very clean threads with very good fit; even zinc coating; no subsequent cutting of thread; and no zinc clogs or zinc runners. In other words, the material is ready for use.

Rajeev Daswani, Managing Director, Marami Metal Plating, said: "We had launched the SPIN Hot Dip Galvanizing system a little over a year ago and have seen significant improvements in the quality of each individual component. One of the main challenges we faced with the traditional centrifuge process was Icing - the accumulation of zinc due to cooling. Where we would have 20 per cent Icing using the traditional means, we now have 0.1 per cent icing with the SPIN Hot Dip Galvanizing system."
