Microsoft SharePoint 2010 will facilitate seamless knowledge exchange for faculty and students at Qatar and College of North Atlantic- Qatar (CNA-Q)
Doha, Qatar - April 3, 2012 - Microsoft Qatar and College of North Atlantic - Qatar (CNA-Q) have launched the CNA-Q portal on SharePoint 2010 at an event hosted by Microsoft Qatar Country Manager Naim Yazbeck, and Dr. Ken MacLeod, President, College of the North Atlantic - Qatar.
The event, which took place on the CNA-Q campus was attended by students, faculty and Microsoft partner ITWorx, and aimed to educate attendees on how the new portal on Microsoft SharePoint 2010 will enable communication and collaboration on campus, while also facilitating more engaged learning.
Microsoft developed a portal that covers CNA-Q intranet and internet sites to revamp their current web portal and provide better web presence. ITWorx helped execute the deployment of the portal which enables collaboration and communication between faculty and students, provides a shared workspace and allows students to access resources including their schedules and course material with ease.
"Now more than ever, many educational institutions view their web presence as a central component of their education strategy," said Yazbeck. "Institutions use their online presence and experience to connect with everyone involved in the education process, from students to faculty and parents, and we are very pleased to be able to facilitate a seamless and more efficient web presence for CNA-Q as it strives to ensure that the education process continues to evolve with the help of technology."
SharePoint 2010 is expected to help faculty and staff connect with colleagues and students in new and creative ways, allowing them to easily exchange and share knowledge while also increasing productivity. The new portal will deliver excellent collaboration tools which are on a single platform and easily managed.
"We are very excited about unveiling the new and improved CNA-Q portal to our students and faculty today." said Dr. MacLeod. "Our new portal will make it easy for people to communicate, collaborate, and access essential information in a seamless, intuitive, and integrated educational environment. This goes a long way to fulfilling our goal of using technology to improve how we work, learn, and communicate at CNA-Q, and, at the same time, equipping our students with 21st Century skills afforded by using this technology-rich educational system."
Unified Communications is now reshaping the work environment and in this case, the education environment as it provides a seamless flow between the work students do and the teachers they need to connect with to get that work done--leading to a significant increase in overall productivity. For ease of navigation, students and teachers will also be able to directly log-on to their personalized "MySite" pages as those pages will be customized to display user-related content. For example, the student "MySite" page will include, Outlook emails, news from the CNAQ site, exam alerts, notifications, etc. Personalized pages will become the central location where users can navigate to the CNA-Q site.
