Hanan Turk and Ahmed Al-Shiqairi to perform "If he was among us"

Dubai: Popular Arab celebrities Hanan Turk and Ahmed Al-Shiqairi signed an agreement with "Love Awards" festival organizers to become presenters of a TV special about the forthcoming event, the second session of which will be staged in Abu Dhabi between April and May 2008.

The highly anticipated festival marks another cultural milestone for the Islamic faithful around the world, as it features their artistic and literary creations expressing love for the Prophet Muhammad, (Peace be upon Him).

The program will consist of 25 episodes, aired over a period of six months, where each episode will be broadcast weekly and exclusively on one satellite TV channel. It aims to highlight the different award categories and to enable viewers from around the world to appreciate the beauty of the participating works in all languages. Artists as well as political and religious personalities from all over the world have also been invited to appear in the program.

Interestingly, audiences from all over the world watching the program can vote for their favorite artworks and literary masterpieces. The public and the judging committee, which will consist of a group of international specialists in the fields of art and literature, will decide the winning works.

The Organizing Committee has set up an internet site   www.mahabba.tv specially for accepting submissions on the internet in order to increase the interaction of ordinary people wishing to participate in this Festival, as the love of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is not restricted to professionals only, but open to everyone.

On this occasion, Hanan Turk said: "I pray to God to be among those He gathers every year to express my deep love to his Messenger. I wish to be the best example of the committed artist who creates only meaningful and useful work reflecting and expressing the greatness of God Almighty." 

For his part, Ahmed Al-Shiqairi said: "Many meaningful media programs have received wide acceptance and success in both Arabian and Islamic worlds, and from that we take inspiration that ours will achieve similar success. We have worked hard to enrich the program with interesting information and presented in a refreshingly creative manner."

Movie star Wajdi Al-Arabi, the official spokesman of the Festival, emphasized the value of the program to the festival and said: "The program is one of the marketing pillars of the festival,that will provide incentives to sponsors who have generously supported the festival. Negotiations will soon commence with various satellite TV stations to introduce the program and offer exclusive broadcasting rights to this highly anticipated festival. Only one station, of course, will be chosen to broadcast the program and the awards ceremony."

Al-Arabi also expressed his gratitude to Hanan and Al-Shiqairi for their involvement in the project: "The approval of both Hanan and Ahmed  to present this program  is an evidence of their deep faith in the magnificent message that the festival aspires to achieve,  which is the love of the "Master of  mankind"  by the whole world, each in his own way."

The Festival had concluded its efforts in the first session by selecting UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan as the "Personality of the Year", and the late Syrian director Mustafa Al-Akad on top of the list of honored people in this innovative festival, which was organized by a group of young men and women from the Arab and Islamic world,  under the supervision of clerics and artist and the support of several UAE and Saudi companies.
