New Wireless-N gateway providing high speed and security for SOHO and home networks
London - 16th May 2007 - Linksys®, a Division of Cisco Systems, Inc., and the recognised leading global manufacturer of voice, wireless, and networking hardware for home, Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) and small business user, today announced the immediate availability of the Linksys Wireless-N ADSL2+ Gateway (WAG325N) which is designed to provide the five-in-one solution for Internet and wireless connectivity. This new solution incorporates a Wireless-N access point, router, ADSL2+ modem, SPI firewall and 4-Port 10/100 switch, all in a single, easy to manage device.
The ADSL2+ modem functionality enables the advantages of a high speed broadband connection, which is far more effective than a dial-up connection. The built-in 4-port 10/100 Ethernet Switch is designed to allow users to share files, printers, and other resources simply by connecting their computers to the gateway. This provides a choice for users to either attach up to four wired PCs directly, or connect other switches to create a larger wired network if necessary.
Advanced Wireless-N (draft 802.11n) Technology
The WAG325N built-in Access Point allows users to connect wireless devices to the network. It uses the latest draft 802.11n wireless network technology which is designed to provide up to 12 times the throughput* and 4 times the range* of 802.11g. The WAG325N also has the ability to significantly reduce dead spots in wireless coverage area.
"The new WAG325N is an all-in-one solution for Internet connectivity. We believe the new gateway addresses users' needs with the ease of use that consumers expect from Linksys and with the level of speed that Wireless-N and ADSL2+ offers, making it ideal for media-centric applications like video streaming, gaming and Voice-over-IP calls, even all at the same time." said Mohammad Hoda, Regional Manager, Middle East and Africa, Linksys.
Virtual Private Network Terminal and Security
In addition, the Virtual Private Network (VPN) terminal can create IPSec encrypted "tunnels" through the Internet so up to 5 users have the ability to connect to a remote network with the security of a private network. The Gateway helps protect data and privacy with up to 256-bit industrial-strength WPA2 encryption and 802.1x authentication and authorisation. It also has a powerful SPI firewall to help protect users' PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks. All security features can be quickly enabled with the Linksys browser-based configuration utility.
Pricing and Availability
The WAG325N will be available in June through the Linksys distribution and partner network with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of US$ 155.
