Doha - K&L Gates was named Alternative Dispute Resolution Team of the Year at the inaugural Qatar Business Law Forum & Awards 2016 in Doha last week. The awards recognise the exceptional achievements from within Qatar’s legal community, with a judging panel composed of industry leaders, which included academic practitioners and government officials.
The event was organised by LexisNexis Middle East in partnership with Qatar Foundation, the College of Law of Qatar University and the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Middle East. This was the first legal event and awards ceremony for the legal community in Qatar.
K&L Gates’ dispute resolution team in Doha has extensive experience of advising both local and multinational companies, particularly in the construction and engineering industry, on a wide variety of high-profile international and domestic arbitration and litigation matters. These prestigious and multifaceted case instructions illustrate the firm’s detailed capabilities in solving complex commercial and technical disputes. The team also has an in-depth understanding of the local market, coupled with a deep appreciation for clients’ concerns, challenges and business objectives.
The Doha office consists of fourteen full-time lawyers based permanently in Qatar, including six partners. The team is supported by a larger team in the wider Gulf region and throughout K&L Gates’ international network. The seamless integration of the Doha practice with other offices throughout the world ensures that clients’ legal requirements will be met with the highest quality service and skill wherever they happen to be doing business.
Doha administrative partner Michael Johns commented: “We were delighted to receive this award in recognition of the high quality service we provide to our clients. Our fourteen-strong team of lawyers in Doha has a deep understanding of the Qatar legal, regulatory, commercial, and financial markets, together with substantial Middle East and international experience. We are very committed to the Qatar market and look forward to continuing to build upon our practice.”
