Dubai, 1st December 2006: Jumeirah Group, the dynamic and rapidly growing Dubai-based luxury hospitality group and member of Dubai Holding, has prepared and presented a special celebratory cake as part of the UAE National Day festivities held at the Heritage Village in Al Shindagha and Creek Park this weekend. 

In commemoration of the 35th UAE National Day, The Dubai Landmark Cake has been baked and decorated by Jumeirah Chefs complete with small scale models of the Union House, where the national flag was hoisted to mark the formation of the UAE on December 2, 1971, surrounded by Jumeirah's properties including Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Madinat Jumeirah, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Jumeirah Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa, Jumeirah Beach Club Resort & Spa, Jumeirah Carlton Tower, Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel and Jumeirah Essex House.

It took approximately 3500 hours to prepare the cake using a total of 3500 eggs, 350 kilograms of butter, 350 kilograms of sugar, 350 kilograms of icing sugar, 350 kilograms of flower and 350 kilograms of mixed fruits. Ms. Shaikha Al Mutawaa, Deputy Chairperson of the Organising Committee for National Day cut the cake that was distributed to the estimated 2,000 guests who were enjoying the creek side festivities.

Abdin Nasralla, General Manager of Jumeirah Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa who attended the event said: "Jumeirah is proud to have been able to prepare this year's Dubai Landmark Cake and thrilled to have contributed to this special occasion". He added, "A team of 60 Jumeirah colleagues have worked together to prepare, bake and decorate the commemorative cake and we were all very excited to present the finished product at the historic Heritage Village".

This is the third consecutive year that Jumeirah has baked the Dubai Landmark Cake, and in line with their expanding international portfolio, was proud to additionally decorate the top this year with one of New York's most prominent hotels, Jumeirah Essex House.
