In a historic medical milestone, Jordan became the first country in the Levant to successfully implant the revolutionary Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Defibrillator (CRTD) device equipped with Home Monitoring Technology. Dr. Munir Zaqqa - a well-known cardiologist and one of only three doctors in Jordan with a subspecialty in electrophysiology - implanted the device in a Sudanese patient, which enabled Dr. Zaqqa to continuously monitor the patient regardless of his location. A specialized team from Rawhi Drug Store, the official and exclusive distributor for Biotronik in Jordan, closely followed up on the operation and provided technical consultation and assistance, whilst the Arab Orient Insurance Company covered what is considered the first-of-its-kind case in Jordan.
Home Monitoring is the latest in cutting-edge implantable cardiac technology created by Biotronik, a leading European company in the field of biomedical technology. The CRTD implant utilizes remote monitoring technology which sends medical and technical data as well as alert notifications to physicians via email, SMS or fax, allowing for the remote monitoring of patients' clinical and device status at any time and from anywhere in the world.
