Muscat - Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are the backbone of any business, says Mrs. Badria Al Abdali, Director of HR at Ithraa. They are used by organizationsto help them understand whether their organization is on the right track for success, and, if it is not, identify where to make improvements and focus more attention.
In an effort to discuss KPIs and their importance to the public sector, Ithraa, the government's inward investment and export promotion agency, organized a three-day 'Certified KPIProfessional training course, in partnership withthe KPI Instituteat the Holiday Inn Seeb for senior members of staff.
Regular reporting of good performance information makes for strong public sector accountability. It tells the public about the work government organizations do. It also helps those organizations make decisions and track their performance. In turn, this improves overall public sector performance.
"We believe that KPIs help ourmanagement and their teams communicate Ithraa's mission, vision and services to inward investors, non-oil Omani exporters and our stakeholders. As KPIs filter through the organization, they have toresonate with staffand that is how we get everyone moving together in the right direction and delivering real value to the business people we serve each day," remarked Ithraa's Head of HR Department.
Mrs. Al Abdali went on to add: "Directorates and individuals within ourorganization have their own KPIs. But it is important that they understand the context of what they are being measured against and how that helpsIthraa realize itsmandate.Indeed, feedback from the course clearly shows that staff left with a better understanding of KPIs and their vital importance to the performance of our organization."
