(26 September 2013, London) The Iraqi Ministry of Communications have confirmed that they will be represented at the 2013 Iraq Telecoms Conference by key senior officials. Taking place on the 7-9 October in Turkey, Istanbul, the Iraq Telecoms Conference has been continuously supported by the Ministry Communications overs its eight year history and has built a reputation of attracting key government officials.

The senior ministry delegation confirmed to attend include H.E Torhan Hassan Al Mufti, Minister of Communications, Adbulkarim Abdulhassan, Inspector General, Salih Hassan Ali, Director General of ITPC , Ali Mohammed Mahmoud, Director General of SCIS, Elham Al Safe, Director of Planning & Follow up Directorate, Riad Ali Wali, Director General of ITPC of Basra-ITPC. 300 industry representatives will have the opportunity to hear first-hand from the Minster of Communications about the government's plans to connect Iraq with the rest of the world as a means of supporting its rapid economic growth. H.E Torhan Hassan Al Mufti will also highlight key investment opportunities and the role of investors in the development of the Iraqi telecommunications sector.

The industry renowned conference is also supported by the Iraqi Parliament, the Kurdistan Ministry of Communications and the Iraq Communications Commission. Iraq Telecoms sets the scene for the Iraqi telecommunications industry by addressing the issues that matter in the transformation of the most dynamic sector in Iraq, issues such as connecting Iraq's Oil & Gas projects and enhancing cyber security.

Commenting on the importance that the telecommunications industry has to the Iraq's economy, Luma Badir, Strategy Director of Asiacell, who will be participating at the conference, stated "There are huge economic and social benefits for Iraq and Iraqis if the telecommunications sector of Iraq is developed in a way that better supports integrating the country in the total world economy"
