DUBAI – Media are invited to attend Al Wasl Space Experience at Expo 2020 Dubai today, where there will be opportunities to interview five astronauts who are appearing at the event.
The astronauts will join Her Excellency Sarah Al Amiri, UAE Minister of State for Advanced Technology, Chair of the UAE Space Agency and the Emirates Scientists Council, and the Deputy Project Manager of the Emirates Mars Mission.
The five astronauts attending are:
- Marcos Pontes (Brazil)
- Naoko Yamazaki (Japan)
- Andrey Borisenko (Russia)
- Christer Fuglesang (Sweden)
- Claude Nicollier (Switzerland)
The astronauts will arrive at Al Wasl Plaza – home to the world’s largest 360-degree projection surface – at 1900 GST, where they will witness stunning space-themed immersive show Cosmos, which takes visitors on a voyage through the infinite. The show will be intersected by a flag ceremony involving the astronauts.
The event is part of Space Week, the second of 10 Theme Weeks taking place throughout Expo 2020 as part of the Programme for People and Planet, in an exchange of inspiring new perspectives that tackle the greatest challenges and opportunities of our time, including climate, connectivity, the future of human health and much more.
