Dubai, August 19, 2009. The American University in Dubai (AUD) is pleased to announce that the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET has accredited its Bachelor of Information Technology degree (B.I.T.); also accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Dr. Lance de Masi, President of AUD, comments:

"The CAC of ABET's accreditation is a further indication of the high standard to which our B.I.T. adheres, seen from an international perspective. As all of AUD's Engineering programs are also accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET, AUD's commitment to quality in technology-driven disciplines is not to be disputed".

Figuring among its strategic goals, AUD has pursued professional accreditation for all its academic units, serving as an impetus to continuous quality improvement and a sign of excellence. That strategic decision has resulted in three professional accreditations: the School of Business Administration, the Engineering Programs, and now the Information Technology Program.

Dr. Khalid Khawaja, Chair of the IT Department at AUD, comments on this significant achievement: "Our Department is very proud to obtain this accreditation of our B.I.T. degree from the premier accrediting body in our field. It is a testimony to the quality of computing and IT education that we offer our students".
