The British Expertise International Awards celebrate the achievements of UK companies around the globe and their involvement in some of the world's most important development and infrastructure projects. The 2014 awards ceremony took place in London's Cumberland Hotel on 10th April and was attended by 250 industry representatives.
Winners were selected by an independent panel of experts chaired by HRH The Duke of Gloucester KG GCVO, President of British Expertise.
Hyder Consulting Middle East was awarded the prestigious 'Outstanding International Business Award 2014', on the basis of its performance over the past 12 months. Hyder's successful entry was founded on the quality and significance of its projects around the region; expansion in Saudi Arabia as well as in the regional healthcare market; strong financial results; and a high percentage of revenue generation for Hyder's global business.
Speaking after the event, Wael Allan - Chief Operating Officer Hyder Consulting PLC and Chairman of the Middle East - said: "I am delighted that Hyder Consulting Middle East has received such recognition as a business. This prestigious award is testament to the value and innovation being delivered by our people on strategic projects around the region and our ability to draw on the multi-disciplinary experience we have across the globe."

Enduring commitment to the Middle East region and its people
Hyder has been delivering projects in the Middle East for over a century. Our heritage in the region began in 1904 when, as John Taylor & Sons, we provided advice on Aden's water supplies. Our expertise has remained in demand, a key example being our involvement, since the 1960s, in the ongoing planning and development of Doha South sewage treatment works for the Ashghal Public Works Authority.
Our operation in the region has grown apace. We have had registered offices in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Doha and Bahrain since the early 1970s and in Dubai since the 1990s. More recently, in April 2012, we announced our international presence in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In 2014, we will celebrate Hyder's 110th year of operations in the Middle East. Currently, we are contributing to major projects around the region including STEP Tunnel and Etihad Rail in Abu Dhabi; Deira Waterfront in Dubai; Ashghal's General Engineering Services Contract 2 (local roads and drainage) and Kahramaa's Water Security Mega Reservoirs project in Doha; and Muharraq waste water treatment works in Bahrain. We are also providing engineering management consultancy services for Al Amanah in Jeddah.
