Proliferation of Smart Devices in Middle East led to increase in video communications usage within Energy industry

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - January 25, 2014: Huawei, a leading global ICT solutions provider, will connect with industry Energy leaders at the 2014 GASCO IT Exhibition showcasing the benefits of flexible and secure mobile Video Conferencing solutions within the Oil and Gas sector.

Each year, the GASCO IT Exhibition brings together Middle Eastern based petroleum service manufacturers and ICT providers to present the latest in technological developments in a bid to boost ICT advancements within the Oil and Gas sector.

"The shift from simple voice to video infrastructure is fuelling the growth of the unified communication market in the Middle East. The rising adoption of smart devices and the increasing acceptance of mobility solutions within regional enterprises are widening the usage of video conferencing as a mainstream form of communication." Said Eddy Wen, Director of Huawei Enterprise, UAE. Middle East.

According to Huawei, one of the latest ICT trends rising in popularity is the use of Telepresence or video conferencing solutions through mobile devices, enhancing communications within the energy sector and reducing operational costs. Implementing an immersive Telepresence system that supports smart devices is a benefit for energy engineers that are required to work offsite at plants, on rigs or at refinement stations.

Huawei maintains that its range of Video communication solutions is particularly useful for this sector. In the case of its Telepresence, it reduces the need for travel, allowing for immediate face-to-face meetings that appear natural as every meeting attendee is seen and heard in human life dimensions. The experience ultimately, provides the means to faster response times and therefore reducing costs.

The proliferation of smart devices and the development of faster LTE broadband in the Middle East have triggered a rise in the use of video conferencing technology as reliable communication tool within various vertical sectors, increasingly within the energy industry.

This is supported by recent findings from market analysts, Frost and Sullivan, stating that the Middle East Unified Communications industry will witness an 88 percent increase in market value by 2019. Currently the market is valued at $361.9m and is forecasted to increase to 679.1m within the next six years.

"We have found that this is particularly true in vertical sectors that need their employees to be contactable in often remote locations, such as the Oil and Gas industry. This is why we are showcasing some of our latest mobile ready Telepresence technologies at the upcoming GASCO IT Exhibition in Abu Dhabi." Concluded Eddy.

Huawei has completed various successful HD Telepresence deployments worldwide for enterprises in the Energy sector, which has delivered significant staff travel expenditure reductions and increased remote working capabilities.  To date, Huawei has successfully deployed approximately 300 video conferencing systems worldwide of which 70% deployed were its immersive Telepresence.

The GASCO IT Exhibition will take place in the Madinat Zayed City between 26 and 30 January 2014.
