President Khatami sends a cordial message of regards to Crown Prince Abdullah
HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company was on an official visit of the Republic of Iran. The people and government of Iran cordially welcomed Prince Alwaleed with a welcome ceremony held in honor of the Prince.
Prince Alwaleed met with President Mohammad Khatami of Iran. The meeting took place after a dinner, which was hosted by the Iranian President in honor of OPEC members in Iran.
During their meeting, Prince Alwaleed and the President Khatami discussed the warm friendship between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Iran. Also on the agenda of discussions was the topic of investment opportunities in Iran. The discussions also revolved around social and economic issues concerning both countries. President Khatami thanked Prince Alwaleed for his visit and expressed a message of regards to Crown Prince Albdullah. In return, HRH thanked the President for the warm hospitality he had received in Iran.
HRH also met with Mr. M. Froozandeh, President of Bonyad. An official luncheon in honor of Prince Alwaleed was hosted by the Vice President for Cultural Heritage and Tourism, Mr. Hosein Marashi
HRH's visit was Pursuant to an official invitation from Iranian President Mohammad Khatami and Minister Dr. Kharazi to visit Iran and to explore propositions for investment in the various sectors there. The propositions included investment in oil, the hotel sector, a construction of a railroad and electricity. The invitation was conveyed by Iranian Ambassador to Saudi, His Excellency, Hussain Sadiqi, during a recent meeting with Prince Alwaleed in Riyadh.
