HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Company donated $500,000 to the Democratic Republic of Congo. $200,000 of the donation was earmarked for the Mzee Laurent Desire Kabila School, while the $300,000 balance was for the Site "H" de Kinshasa Hospital.
During an official visit to the Congo last year, HRH met with President Joseph Kabila of Congo and pledged to donate $500,000. The pledge was in appreciation to an honorary citizenship, which HRH was awarded by the Governor of Kinshasa during the visit.
Covering more than 2.3 million square kilometers, Congo is endowed with vast potential wealth; from investments in mining, agriculture, fishing, livestock, timber, transportation, telecommunications, residential units, energy, banking and tourism. Congo is looking to attract foreign capital in every sector of the economy to help revive a war-stricken economy.
During Prince Alwaleed's visit to the Congo, HRH was also invited to consider investing in multi sectors, including mining, energy, pharmaceuticals and agriculture.
Prince Alwaleed said his team would asses the proposals and explore the possibility of developing a project in the tourism sector.-Ends-
