HP's versatile next generation Notebooks offer increased mobility, security and entertainment for home and business customers

DUBAI, UAE, March 28th, 2005 - HP has launched its latest consumer notebooks for the Middle East, featuring the latest Intel Centrino Mobile Technology, codenamed Sonoma, running on the Intel 915 chipset. The HP Pavilion notebook series ze2000, zd8000 and dv1100 emphasise security, versatility and affordability for consumers who wish to capitalise on the combination of digital entertainment and mobile technology.

Announcing the launch, Hazem Bazan, Solutions Partner Organisation Manager and General Manager, Personal Systems Group, HP Middle East, reaffirmed that 2005 was the 'Year of Mobility' and said, "Increasingly, people are turning to notebooks for the ease and freedom they signal. At HP, we have taken this a step further by combining the best of technology, with the best of digital entertainment and adding a considerable number of security features to present an irresistible offer in the form of the new Pavilion notebooks

"The three series - ze2000, zd8000 and dv1100 - are vital tools to increased productivity, while offering multimedia on the go, as well as enhanced security features, making it ideal for modern individuals, students and families who want to make the most out of their computing experience. The new Pavilion models can work in turn as a TV set, a digital recorder, a stereo, and, of course, as a powerful computer," he stated.

All the new Pavilion models feature Intel's Sonoma mobile technology, the latest version of latest Intel Centrino Mobile Technology, which includes the Pentium M processor, a mobile chip set, and an Intel Pro/Wireless chip. All models also feature Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition and Bluetooth wireless networking

Bazan explained the key features of the three new series: "The award-winning HP Pavilion zd8000 series combines desktop capabilities with the very latest in technology to provide exhilarating home entertainment. The series includes 2 pre-installed Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack, for an extra layer of protection against network-based attacks, unwanted Internet pop-up ads, viruses, and more. With its dual TV tuner and digital video recorder to support up to two live TV shows or series recordings at the same time, and its 17 inch, high-definition widescreen display, the zd8000 series notebook can be configured with Windows XP Media Center 2005 to turn it into the centrepiece for digital entertainment," he said.

The perfect blend of mobility, style, and performance, the dv1100 series notebooks are designed to be the centre of any digital entertainment universe, be it a school, an office, a home or on the road. "For those in the market for a multimedia-centric portable, the HP Pavilion dv1000 is a product that shouldn't be missed. The dv1000 crams all the characteristics of a multimedia machine into a very sleek 5.4-pound chassis, plays DVD movies flawlessly on its 14.1 inch screen, and does not even require booting up to do so," Bazan said.

The dv1000 series' high-definition widescreen display also brings movies and photos to life with amazing colour and clarity. It is to be noted that while this notebook is actually as wide as standard 15 inch displays, it has the same form factor as a 12 inch display, taking up less space on a desk or in a briefcase. Even more impressive, its high resolution provides 25 per cent more information than standard 15 inch XGA displays.

And finally, offering something for everyone, the affordable HP Pavilion ze2000 series notebook is an excellent choice for sending e-mail, doing schoolwork, sharing photos, and even enjoying music and movies at home, at school, or on the road, said Bazan.

The Pavilion ze2000 series helps with discovering, creating and enjoying rich multimedia.  Enhanced with great views from the large 15 inch display, the series offers up to eight hours of battery life with the high capacity 12 cell battery, allowing work to be done even on the road.
