DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, October 8, 2008 - HP today announced the appointment of Steen Lomholt-Thomsen as vice president and general manager of HP Software's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, effective immediately.
He will have responsibility for maximizing HP Software's profit and revenue growth in the EMEA region, as well as extending its market leadership, driving effective go-to-market activities and delivering superior customer service. Lomholt-Thomsen, who will report to Tom Hogan, senior vice president of HP Software, will oversee sales of its Business Technology Optimization (BTO) software, Information Management software, Business Intelligence solutions, and Communications and Media solutions, along with the associated services and support offerings.
Lomholt-Thomsen joins HP from IBM where he spent 10 years in its software division. Most recently he served as vice president of IBM's software division in the Nordics, responsible for sales, marketing and services. During his successful tenure at IBM, Lomholt-Thomsen also held various senior leadership roles, including vice president of IBM Tivoli software in Northern Europe.
Prior to IBM, Lomholt-Thomsen worked at NCR's retail and financial group for six years, where he was responsible for its software retail application business.

Lomholt-Thomsen holds a master's degree in business administration from Copenhagen Business School.
