Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Following the recent exciting announcement that Horizon English School has joined Cognita, one of the world’s leading school groups, Horizon is now embarking on a comprehensive USD 3 million programme of improvements to its facilities and resources.
Already rated as outstanding by the KHDA and known as one of the most reputable and established British Curriculum schools in Dubai, Horizon English School will carry out the extensive investments over the next 18 months in partnership with its parent group Cognita, which draws upon best practice and experience from across its global family of schools.
Embodying Horizon’s vision of ‘Dream, Aspire, Achieve’, the improvements will provide even better learning opportunities for its pupils and, in turn, give them access to an even brighter future. One area of particular focus is the upgrade of Horizon’s IT infrastructure and Ed-Tech in alignment with Cognita’s high standards and includes the implementation of a one-to-one device programme for students. Other significant improvements include the installation of a FIFA-standard hybrid/natural grass football pitch, refurbished netball and tennis courts - and widespread upgrades of shared-learning areas, classrooms and corridors.
The children’s health and safety remain the school’s top priorities. The investment includes a brand new ‘fresh-air’ conditioning system to ensure the highest quality of air reaches the children as well as a significant upgrade to the fire-safety system.
Ian Wallace, Principal, Horizon English School said: “Everything we do at Horizon English School is to strengthen our vibrant community and we are overjoyed that we can upgrade our facilities to provide even better learning and development opportunities for our families. We are known for our outstanding academic and pastoral support and this investment in the school will allow us to do that even more effectively, as well as being able to further reinforce our promise of being outstanding in every way.”
David Baldwin, MD of Cognita Middle East said: “We are delighted to be able to support the school in its aspirations to provide the very best learning environment for the students of Horizon. This investment in the school will allow Horizon to offer students even more opportunities for personalised learning and a broader and richer educational experience. Horizon English School is relentless in its aspirations for its students; we share that same passion in our mission of creating an inspiring world of education across all Cognita schools.”
