Building on outstanding success of its IQ®4 range, Trend's IQ®4E offers unrivalled levels of flexibility, functionality, performance and convenience

Dubai, UAE, April 27, 2016: Trend Control Systems, a leading international manufacturer and supplier of state-of-the-art Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), has released the new Trend IQ®4E controller which brings higher technology, processing performance, versatility and cost-saving to building energy management.

Given the region's drive towards more sustainable energy usage, the IQ®4 range lessens the headache of reducing energy consumption, lowering overall energy expenditure and minimizing carbon footprint, whilst maintaining comfortable conditions.

"The IQ®4E is a new paradigm in controlling the most complex HVAC applications," said Dilip Sinha, regional business leader for Honeywell Middle East, adding that: "it brings greater ease of use, functionality and backwards compatibility in a form factor 40 per cent smaller than our last controller.

"Ultimately, the IQ®4E is the latest iteration in our long line of ground-breaking controllers which maximize the energy saving potential of a building services infrastructure through greater visibility and control. Up to 84 per cent of a building's energy usage can be controlled by a Trend system, making it the most effective way to gain a true understanding of where savings can be made, monitored and sustained."

The latest addition to the company's industry-leading range of control devices is available in 16, 32, 64, 96, 128, 160 and 192-point variants; applications of all sizes can benefit from its best in class technology, while the ability to upgrade between the point variants provides increased flexibility.

The IQ®4E supports soft addressing - which means less time spent commissioning controllers - and no need to visit every controller to set physical address switches.

Superior processing performance enables the most complex HVAC applications to be controlled and the IQ®4E also has improved I/O bus capabilities, with an available length of up to 300m and the potential for 30 I/O modules to be configured.

As with all Trend devices, backwards compatibility is designed in from the outset, so the IQ®4E can communicate with any IQ®1, IQ®2 or IQ®3 controllers. This removes the need to re-train engineers, and replace existing controllers and wiring, for example.

All IQ®3 and IQ®4 modules are also interchangeable for additional protection of customer investment.

Trend's new universal input and analogue output module concept, now with 8 universal Input Ouput channels (8UIO) or 4UIO channel variants, is a significant feature. This allows every channel to be configured as a digital input, thermistor input, current input, voltage input or voltage output. Once again, this versatility will deliver significant savings on installation and equipment costs, as well as simplifying potential maintenance stock.

When it comes to the amount of room allocated for BEMS in modern commercial buildings, the size of any constituent parts really matters. Wall and floor space is often limited and large controllers take up more room in electrical enclosures, meaning more expensive containment systems are required.

Trend continues to lead the way in reducing the footprint of its controllers, without compromising on features, and the 105mm IQ®4E I/O module is 40 per cent smaller than the IQ®3xcite I/O. In addition, the use of vertical connectors means trunking can be situated immediately alongside the controller, saving even more space.

David Field, product manager at Trend, comments, "With the IQ®4E we've managed to raise the bar even higher in terms of the features we are able to incorporate into a controller of this size. Designed to meet the multi-faceted demands of today's customers, it addresses all their requirements for better space utilisation, flexibility and cost effectiveness."
