Doha 9 June, 2013: A special roadshow giving Hamad Medical Corporation's (HMC) staff the opportunity to discuss the results of a recently released Patient Satisfaction Survey was launched today.

The road show, which will see members of HMC's leadership visit all eight of the Corporation's hospitals during the month of June, will be used as unique 360-degree discussion-style events.

Staff and members of the leadership team will join together at these special events, which kicked off at Hamad bin Khalifa Medical City today, to share ideas about continuous improvement and patient-centered care.

Hanan Al Kuwari PhD, Managing Director of HMC, said the survey was conducted as part of the Corporation's ongoing commitment to improve the patient experience and the roadshow was an important part of this ongoing process.

"The high satisfaction of patients and their families is a direct reflection of the competence and dedication of staff," said Dr. Al Kuwari. "The roadshow events are intended to recognize staff and the role they play in shaping the patient experience. "It is equally as important to have their direct feedback and input on how we can continue to improve the way we deliver the safest, most effective and compassionate care to our community."

Between 11 April and 9 May 2013, HMC's Regulatory, Accreditation and Compliance Services Department, under the leadership of Dr. Badriya Al Ali, conducted approximately 5,000 telephone surveys with discharged patients and their families. The survey revealed that 97 percent of respondents would choose to re-visit a Corporation hospital and that 95 percent of patients would recommend HMC hospitals to friends and family.  The overall patient satisfaction rating was 86 percent for all hospitals combined.

The survey was conducted as part of HMC's ongoing commitment to improve the patient experience and results revealed positive ratings across HMC's network of hospitals; 89 percent satisfaction was recorded for inpatient services, 85 percent for emergency services and 83 percent satisfaction for outpatient services.
