Dubai, UAE; Forbes Middle East Announced the ranking of the 68 most powerful people in the world in its December issue. Ranked 56th was His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates since 2004 after succeeding his father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him.
In a special article, entitled 'Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a man of difficult situations', the magazine focused on the successful and continuous economic and cultural developments that His Highness has achieved and highlighted a number of key situations experienced by Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Chinese President, Hu Jintao, was ranked first ahead of his American counterpart, Barack Obama, who ranked second and fell from the top position which he held last year. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who appears on the front cover of the magazine, was ranked third in the world.
In her opening address to this edition, Khuloud Al-Omian, Editor in Chief of Forbes Middle East, explained the methodology and criteria through which the selection of personalities had been made, pointing out the different concepts and strengths between the variety of people, which include governors, corporate executives and heads of government institutions.
The magazine hailed the effective role of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in guiding the UAE economy to progress and prosperity. The United Arab Emirates economy is the third largest economy in the region with a GDP estimated at US$ 230 billion, and ranked 25th in the world, according to the Global Competitiveness Report 2010-2011, which was recently released by The Economic Forum World. Other areas of notability made by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan were in infrastructure, in which the United Arab Emirates was ranked third in the world and in advanced technology also ranked third worldwide. Financial security and stability (ranked fourth in the world), despite the difficulties that affected the country during the global financial crisis, especially the Emirate of Dubai. This has made His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan deservedly named 'A man of difficult situations.' The magazine also hailed the outstanding mentality of the UAE Ruler in future planning, by highlighting the plan 'Economic Vision 2030', which aims to diversify the economy of the capital Abu Dhabi and reduce its dependence on oil revenues.
The new issue of the magazine also includes the list of 'The cleanest Arab countries', which was issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Another article covered Turkey's role in the export of oil to Europe through the vision provided by the oil expert, Walid Khoury. Ken Fisher, an expert with the U.S. investment, talked about several useful views on the growth of global markets and its impact on the stock. Ahmed al-Samarrai has written a feature about BlackBerry services in Emirates Airlines, highlighting the relationship between Canada and the United Arab Emirates. Other articles in this issue are the Kuwaiti 'Zain' and UAE 'Etisalat' deal, and questions from the Ali Al Masri about mortgage deals.
