DUBAI, UAE - October 2, 2012 -Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort has been awarded a major corporate social responsibility ("CSR") honour for its on-going and extensive activities in support of a host of meaningful causes and charities across Dubai.
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry CSR Label is awarded only to those organisations who have demonstrated a major contribution towards building a more responsible and sustainable Dubai business community. Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort was one of only eight organisations to be honoured and the very first hotel to be awarded the accolade.
The CSR Label submission process assesses four different areas of CSR involvement including; Workplace, Marketplace, Community and Environment. Applicants are judged on whether the company is taking action internally; If they have a formal policy for action; If they are measuring its performance; and whether they have set targets for performance improvement.
Christian Muhr, general manager, Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort said, "For us the label structure complements the company's worldwide CSR initiative, Travel With Purpose and clearly demonstrates that we are implementing that strategy successfully. Receiving the label puts us in a forum to benchmark with other progressive companies in Dubai who also have CSR at the core of their businesses."
The Travel With Purpose philosophy is similarly based on four focus areas of Opportunity, Community, Culture and Sustainability so implementing a formalized CSR strategy along these lines helped to achieve the label.
Over the past year, the CSR initiatives at the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort have resulted in over 1700 volunteer hours, 150,000 AED raised and more than 600,000 AED in probono donations. "This is a great achievement for us and a milestone along our CSR journey," said CSR Champion and Corporate Communications Manager, Emily McGuire. "The difference that CSR has made at our hotels is immense and the stories about what our team members do, even on their personal time is inspiring. It truly has been a cultural shift."
