Dubai Arab Woman Awards 2012 honours women across industries

Dubai ,UAE-  HH Sheikha Fatma bint Rashid Al Maktoum received the ultimate award of 'Inspirational Arab Woman of the Year'  at the Arab Woman Awards 2012, Dubai.  Dr. Manahel Thabet the previous winner of the Inspirational Woman of the Year in 2010 and primary judge accepted the award on behalf of HH Sheikha Fatma bint Rashid al Maktoum at this glittering gala ceremony, held at Zabeel Saray, The Palm Jumeirah. Attended by over 300 guests, the event honoured women for their achievements in fields including business, arts, charity and fashion.                                                                                

A celebrated poet Sheikha Fatima bin Rashid Al Maktoum, "Gaaheb" was born into a family that governed foresightedness, statesmanship, leadership and talent in literature and poetry.  A way of life that celebrated poetry as an expression of love for country, culture and family, she has captured the hearts of many with her emotional catalogues of poems that have attracted performers such as Hussain El Jismi, Rashid El Majed and Abdel Majeed Abdullah . She has received special recognitions from the General Department of Umm Al Quwain Police and Dubai Police for her contribution in spreading awareness about the danger of drugs with her poem "Enough, I Am Tired".

"This award coincides with the celebration of 41years of UAE National Day, a time to celebrate prosperity and success of our beloved nation, a country that recognizes the efforts of women, their contribution as well as their active role in building economy and business environment. I would like to thank you for bestowing me with this honour of the inspirational woman of the year award and by accepting this award, I would like to invite all Emirati and Arab women, regardless of their roles and professions, to be creative, innovative and exceptional.  Ambition and success are driven by passion, dedication and commitment to make a difference. Tonight women have been honoured for their desire to pursue their goals and dreams, I would also like to congratulate all those women" said HH Sheikha Fatma bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

A panel of judges led by Dr Manahel Thabet, L'Officiel Middle East Editor Nadine El Chaer included , Dr. Amina Al Rustamani, Amna BinHendi and Muna Bin Kalli. The judges praised this year's nominations and commended the winners' ambitions and their commitment to building innovative and sustainable businesses in areas of their expertise. With the inauguration of this prestigious award in Doha earlier this year, Arab Woman Award continues to honour outstanding women across the Gulf.

'We received entries from remarkable individuals who strive for perfection in their sector. This year's entries proved just how the Arab woman has evolved and continuous to transform in the professional environment. It is important to recognize the value of these individuals and Arab Woman Award understands the importance of acknowledging such drive and ambition" said Dr Manahel Thabet, Primary Judge, Arab Woman Awards.

"Art has always been my passion. Over the last three years I painted at home however I wanted to share my work with art lovers to invite them into my creation. I was not expecting any recognition or fame. I was surprised to receive this award and I would like to extend my gratitude and appreciate for this award: Sheikh Hessa bint Khalifa Al Maktoum.

Supported by luxury jeweler Maxmillian London, Nokia and the Dubai Ladies Club, the Arab Woman Awards are a celebration of the achievements of inspirational Arab women from the region in fields including business, the arts, charity and fashion.
