The  theme has several new activities that will showcased in the various field of arts  – including painting, theatre, music, fine arts and many others which suit different styles and taste. The Opening Ceremony reflects the significant role played by arts in human life and showcases a rich repertoire of musical styles in a dramatic presentation.

“The Arts Surprises events have been selected  to reflect a higher quality of events. We have used our learnings from the past year to improve the quality of the events.”

The opening ceremony was based on the theme of the universal appeal of the language of music ‘Music – The Language of the World’. The tones of the musical notes and different dance forms of different countries in the world was combined with acting to capture the week long theme.

The simplistic yet beautiful story telling delighted the young audience from start to finish.

The curtains opened to reveal a stage that was decorated with a line-up of musical instruments  that included the Cello, Guitar, Piano, Oud and a Flute, and the instruments seemed  like these were waiting to be played.  The  main artist a young girl child, a talented theatre artist takes the audience in a journey of  experiencing music of all forms with her  delighted renderings of  the music  from all the instruments.

The brilliantly lit stage was covered in a glory of colours as the performance begins with the  little girl coming onto the stage with a tiny magical box. Engrossed in her own world, the girl plays the instruments kept on the stage with gay abandon.

The dramatic twist comes when she accidentally drops the box, and breaks into little pieces.  The story continues with its built in theatrical twists to end with a huge  group of brilliant  dancers coming to stage and rendering the dance forms of the different countries.

The energetic performance ends with a happy note when Modhesh joins the performers  in the last act. Simplistic ballet, elaborate costumes and unforgettable music make  this show a memorable experience.
