Ajman - The Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Leadership Program (ALP), a first-of-its-kind programme that empowers young, talented individuals with essential leadership qualities, concluded its final session under the title ‘My World’ at Fairmont Ajman Hotel, Ajman. The session, which was held from March 12th to the 16th, focused on global trends, change leadership, business networking, as well as protocol and etiquette to be applied in their careers.

The conclusion of the final ALP session provided participants with the rare opportunity to visit Diwan on Wednesday, March 15th to meet and have an engaging conversation with His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman. He personally examined the learning methodologies adopted at the session. His continuous support of the youth was evidenced in his speech which focused on the special role that young leaders play in shaping the future. The participants also had the opportunity to meet HH Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince and President of the Executive Board of Ajman and HH Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Information. After the Diwan visit, the participants presented their ‘Innovation Challenge Projects’ in a 30-second elevator pitch as well as a five-minute, PowerPoint presentation for the ALP jury committee. The presenters were then provided feedback and each Innovation Challenge Project was ranked.

Shaikha Ali Al Nuaimi, Corporate Communication Manager, Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Foundation said, “It is incredibly satisfying to witness the growth of the young participants. Today, the importance of global trends, adaptive leadership, business networking and etiquette cannot be understated. In addition, protocol is an important part of diplomatic practice linked with history, royalty, religion, culture and language. It is particularly important because it outlines a set of established rules of courteousness that are to be respected and applied in business and society. Taking this as an opportunity, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Fairmont Ajman Hotel for hosting the final session.”

The session started on Sunday, March 12th 2017 with a key note speech from Abeer Mohammed Hussain Al Shaali, Executive Management Officer at Gulf Craft. Gulf Craft was the official sponsor at the final ALP session titled ‘My World’. Mrs Al Shaali inspired the participants with her own colourful career, narrating specific incidents where she overcame obstacles that served as a personal benchmark for leadership and innovation. Commenting on the initiative, Mrs Al Shaali said, “It is a great pleasure to have the opportunity to share key insights and the best international practices with such a wonderful audience. As young entrepreneurs in the early stages of their career, it is crucial to pay attention to current trends for long-term success.”

This was followed by a workshop on macro global trends, including: Innovation, emerging markets, clean technology and individual and collective empowerment. It highlighted the importance of automation (i.e. smart technologies) where machines and robots are being deployed in the work sector at ever-increasing rates, and how global players are building trust with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategies.

The session on March 13th, which focused on Change Leadership, detailed the driving forces, vision and processes of large-scale transformation. As Change leadership has its own demands and requires a different mindset, this session highlighted the importance of a leader that can adapt an organisation to changing times. The Business Networking Workshop on the 14th of March provided strategies for developing sales opportunities and contacts, based on referrals and introductions. The workshop focused on the principles and techniques of business networking through various platforms. The day concluded with a field visit to the Gulf Craft Factory, witnessing the process of building luxury yachts. They also had the chance to ride them in the open sea and meet HE Mohammed Hussein Al Shaali, Chairman of Gulf Craft. He took the participants through the journey of building each yacht, explaining the intricate process from its beginning to its luxurious conclusion. He also discussed the various challenges the company has overcome and the opportunities that can be found in difficult moments.

As the final session of the program, the workshop focused on specific protocol procedures, respect for precedence, behavioural etiquette, and the rules of courteousness in business. The workshops provided tactics for self-improvement, demonstrating the importance of punctuality, goal-setting and taking responsibility for mistakes.
