Dubai, UAE, 1st December 2010: The annual Best In Dubai Awards, dubbed 'The Emmys of the Emirate,' was an invite only event held on Wednesday 30th November 2010 where the winners were announced to a glamorous crowd of the Emirate's who's who at the Le Royal Meridien Dubai. The winners list recognises the best the Emirate has to offer in hospitality, culture, events and initiatives that will shape the future of Dubai.
Winners of the majority of the awards were chosen by the public, who work, live and enjoy the Dubai Emirate, which was invited to select their favourite businesses, galleries, clubs and schools and to recognize the charity initiative which has made the biggest impact over the past year. This year, 18,000 voters contributed over 100,000 individual votes to decide the winners of the title of Best In Dubai.
Only one award was partly judged on the evening, being the "Best Local Band", where public vote determined the final three bands, who played live to a 500 strong crowd at the awards and the winner was selected by a panel of judges representing Sony Music Middle East. The winning band, Juliana Down, will receive a mentoring session with Sony Music Middle East, the kick start every band desires.
The Best in Dubai 2010 book will be released free with copies of Ahlan! magazine on sale on the 9th December 2010, highlighting the winners for each category. Images of the winners as they scooped their awards, the ultimate recognition from the public that they are the Best In Dubai for their category are now viewable on www.ahlanlive.com. These awards were sponsored by our partners; Dubai Festival City, Hewlett Packard, Diva, Sony Music Middle East, MGT Exports and Dubai Eye 103.8.
