Abu Dhabi, UAE, 3 February 2010: His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, inaugurated the "Orient meets Occident" exhibition at the Armed Forces Officers Club in Abu Dhabi yesterday evening. The exhibition, supported by the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation and organised by the "Orient meets Occident" team, features a unique selection of paintings, photography and installations created by artists from the UAE (Karima Al Shomely), Lebanon (Imad Bechara), Canada (J,J. Tebrake ), Germany (Benedikt Steinmetz and Markus Schlee) and Spain (Susanna Llado). The exhibition will run from February 2nd to February 8th at the Armed Forces Officers Club in Abu Dhabi, serving as a platform for artistic communication. The initiative falls under the Foundation's efforts to enhance cultural dialogue and to further the capital's role as a bridge between cultures.
