Regional and International Specialists to Participate in One-Day Course in Dubai
Dubai: 5 October, 2008- Harvard Medical School Dubai Center (HMSDC) Institute for Postgraduate Education and Research, a member of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Center, in collaboration with Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), a member of Tatweer, will hold a continuing medical education (CME) course on obstetrics and neonatal care at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Dubai on 9 October 2008.
This program aims to support obstetricians, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, internal and general medicine physicians as well as medical students and nurses, to inform them on the latest advances in the field. Dr William R Camann, Director of the Obstetric Anesthesia Service at Brigham and Women's hospital in Boston, and an Associate Professor of Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School will lead this program.
The conference will consist of sessions on latest developments in obstetrics care, emergencies in neonatal delivery and neonatal care in cases of infections and requirement of respiratory support
The CME program is approved and accredited by the Continuing Professional Development department at HMSDC for a maximum of 5.5 CME credit hours. While CME programs are fundamental to aid healthcare professionals to stay current on new treatment options, CME credits rewarded are now recognized by the Ministry of Health as well as Dubai and Abu Dhabi Health Authorities.

The course is an intensive one-day event, with a variety of lectures, case studies and Q&A sessions. The participants will be able to use an audience response system that will transform the didactic lectures into interactive and active sessions lead by local and Harvard Medical School speakers that have been chosen for their professionalism and expertise in the field. Throughout the presentations, the delegates will have the opportunity to interact with and learn from the experts on latest advancements in the field of obstetrics and neonatal care.
Dr. Zahra Baalawi, Director of Education - HMSDC, has said: "This program is designed to review the role of healthcare professionals in understanding the principles of women's and neonatal care and provide information on latest advances in this area."
