GSD Training Course on Minimally Invasive Aortic Valve Surgery concluded yesterday at Dubai Hospital, UAE. On the 13th November 2017, cardiac and cardiothoracic surgeons from the Middle East gathered for an intensive training course at Raffles Dubai, that focused on the latest techniques in Minimally Invasive Aortic Valve Surgery.

Organised by GSD Healthcare and Lootah Health training center, the training course commenced with the opening address by Dr. Francesco Magro, Director and General Manager, GSD Healthcare followed by Dr. Mattia Glauber, Director of Adult Cardiac Surgery, Sant'Ambrogio Cardiothoracic Center, Gruppo Ospedaliero San Donato, Milan, Italy, Head course trainer who introduced GSD Healthcare's inaugural training course on Minimally Invasive Aortic Valve Surgery.

He is considered an international key opinion leader in Minimal Invasive Cardiac Surgery with more than 3500 minimal invasive surgical interventions.

Dr. Mattia Glauber stated, “Minimally Invasive Aortic Valve Surgery is the best surgical treatment option for most cardiac diseases specifically aortic valve disease. Aortic valve diseases is mainly due to aging of the population and is becoming more frequent and surgery still remains as the gold standard of treatment. Referring to this surgery with minimal invasive access, this procedure allows less surgical trauma with less bleeding, better post-operative recovery and rapid rehabilitation which are all advantages of minimally invasive cardiac surgery.

A patient can be discharged four to five days after surgery and back to normal life three to four weeks with total recovery. So, this course is an opportunity to share to the region an update about the latest minimally invasive surgical techniques and pre-and post-operative management.”

All trainees gathered at Dubai Hospital yesterday, to view two live surgeries performed by Dr. Mattia Glauber and Dr. Faouzi Safadi, Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Dubai Hospital, Dubai Health Authority.
