GCS is one of only five schools worldwide to be awarded this prestigious authorisation.
24 June 2013
There are 3,619 IB World Schools in 145 countries. The International Baccalaureate awarded Greenfield Community School (GCS), a Taaleem school, the Certificate of Authorisation for Middle Years Programme, their fourth authorisation. This propelled GCS to become one of a handful of schools worldwide that offers all four IB Programmes: the Primary Years (PYP), Middle Years (MYP), IB Diploma and IB Career-related Certificate (IBCC).
GCS recently hosted a workshop run by members of the IB Head Office, to introduce the IB and its philosophy to other schools in the Middle East. The International Baccalaureate is one of the fastest growing curricula in the world and one that allows families to relocate globally without disrupting their children's education. Taaleem is also one of the largest official IB Professional Development Providers worldwide and provides training for over 500 teachers annually.
"GCS students develop the attributes that are at the core of the IB Learner Profile. GCS learners strive to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective. These attributes express the values inherent to the IB continuum of international education: these are values that should infuse all elements of the four programmes and, therefore, the culture and ethos of our IB World School," said a delighted Principal Angela Hollington.
"To become one of only five schools in the world out of many thousands that offer the IB curriculum is truly outstanding", said Stephen Lee, Chairman of the GCS Advisory board.
