Grand Millennium Hotel (GMH), a member of the Millennium and Copthorne Hotels Group Worldwide, will host the first edition of Abu Dhabi International Environmental Film Festival (ADIEFF). This event will take place between 20th and 25th of April, under the auspices of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region. The Festival is considered to be the first of its kind aims to "promote the importance of protecting the environment in order for the Earth to become a better place to live in". It also aims to explore and keep up with everything that is recent and new in the field of spreading awareness and protection of the environment. The festival will witness participation and attendance of the biggest movie stars in the Emirates and the region.
The Festival's administration said that the participant films in the official competition will be displayed in the screening halls of the hotel, along with special programs. The hotel will also host conferences and meetings pertaining to the festival. GMH considers the participation in a festival of this scale as a matter of huge significance because it includes artistic, cultural and educational events. The Festival will not only bring together the most important recent films from around the globe in its official competitions, but also the biggest film makers, critics and directors as well as the specialists involved in the field of environment protection . The administration also added that the venue of the Festival at the Hotel reflects the commitment of the administrative staff by embracing one of the most distinguished artistic and cultural events that attracts hotel guests and tourists alike.
GMH's Director General, Atif Ilyas, said "We look forward to welcoming our guests, whether from the world of cinema, the field of protection or from the public in general. He also expressed that at the same time, the hotel hopes to raise Abu Dhabi to become one of the world's leading tourist destinations.
He mentions that the ADIEFF is the first ever to deal with the issue of the Environment in the Middle East. Media Lab, a Mass Media company will organize this event. The capital of the UAE, Abu Dhabi will host them over a period of 5 days, between the 20th and 25th of April 2013.
