* As part of its social responsibility Global shares its experience with University students
* Mrs. Al-Ghunaim : Global is committed to provide the society with added benefit.
* Dr. Al-Hashel : Global's effort towards students is an excellent initiative from the private sector.
As part of its social responsibility and mainly towards university students in Kuwait, Global Investment House "Global" has presented a number of lectures to students in the areas of finance and investment. These lectures aim primarily at putting economics related theories into a real life practice.
Global has worked together with a number of local universities to give lectures that highlight the similarities and differences between theory and practice. The main objective of these lectures is to prepare future generation to enter real life and work force equipped with the right tools.
The idea behind these lectures stems from Global's environment and is a reflection of the company's administrative and business team's progressive and pioneering nature; whether it's a new investment fund or business in the market. Furthermore, it is a fulfillment of Global's social and educational responsibilities.
Mrs. Maha K. Al-Ghunaim, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Global affirmed that by saying, "Since its inception, Global has been committed to be unique in the way it does business and the products it provides; and these lectures are a natural outcome of that obligation."
"These lectures reflect the company's practical nature and the attention it pays to present what is realistic and useful to the individual and the society. The college students need to be assured that the economics related theories and investment tools they learn in lectures and text books can be implemented in reality and day-to-day life," she explained.
Mrs. Al-Ghunaim stressed Global's awareness of its duties and responsibilities towards the society and youth wherever it existed. This awareness stems from one of its strategies not to be, as she puts it, "just another investment company."
In the primary phase, Global gave lectures locally in cooperation with economics professors at College of Administrative Science at Kuwait University and The American University Of Kuwait (AUK). The objective of all sides was "to give students a realistic and practical feel to what they learn in lectures and text books".
Two lectures were given at the College of Administrative Science at KU in collaboration with economics professor Dr. Mohamed Y. Al-Hashel. Dr. Al-Hashel said, "Global's effort towards the College of Administrative Science students, seen here in these finance lectures, is an excellent initiative from a leading company in the private sector."
He continued, "through these lectures, students are able to link what they learn in class with what is there in the local and regional money markets, which helps engrave the science in the mind of the student and makes it clearer."
The first KU lecture covered the Fundamentals of Finance and Stock Valuations. Global lecturer used a local listed company to compliment the theory the students learned in class. The second lecture covered Financial Management and the subject was "Mergers & Acquisitions". The lecturer defined Ms&As, and the similarities and differences between them and gave some real examples.
The Global lecture at AUK covered other issues such as finance, inflation, trade surplus and a general outlook at Kuwait's economy.
