International schools, managed by GEMS, to begin all activities in Jordan and Libya by September 2005
Dubai - Global Education Management Systems (GEMS), a leading education provider in the region has reached yet another landmark in their expansion drive by introducing International Schools in Libya & Jordan that will offer a holistic educational environment to suit the needs of the local communities. Both schools will commence all operations for the following academic year in September 2005.
In Jordan, GEMS has entered into an alliance with the Aqaba Development Corporation of Jordan to open Aqaba International School that will provide high quality international education in and around Aqaba free trade zone. Hugh MacPherson, COO of GEMS, said, "GEMS is delighted to be chosen as 'best in class' education provider for this exciting and innovative project". This is first of the many schools that GEMS will manage in Jordan.
In addition, GEMS have had an agreement with the Sahara Development Corporation to manage the International school of Tripoli that has been designed to offer the best international education in Libya. The school will combine high standards of teaching and learning with premium facilities and activities for children to develop all aspects of their potential. "This is a parallel step for GEMS as we make our entry into Libya's promising education industry" said MacPherson.
"GEMS has already established itself as a leading provider of quality education in the UK and Middle East. We are going a step further by providing world class education in Libya & Jordan. Our prime aim is to provide education to suit the requirements of the student-parent community in these countries by adhering to their culture and values", adds MacPherson.
The schools in Libya and Jordan will offer the National Curriculum of England and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Initially, the schools will function up to Year six and seven respectively and then eventually up to Year 13.
